About Us

KELASO is a non-governmental organization registered under the NGOs Act No,24,2002 as amended in 2005. It is based in the Kilimanjaro Region of Tanzania but also supports development projects in other areas of the country.

The founder (Jumanne Issondo) worked in the education sector for many years and witnessed the challenges created by severe poverty, economic disparity, lack of infrastructure, barriers to education and the inequity of opportunities for children, often in violation of their basic human rights. These challenges are even more prevalent in village areas.

Recognizing that something needed to be done, he gathered together a group of like-minded people who shared the vision of a better tomorrow and, collaboratively, they established the groundwork for the ultimate registration of KELASO in 2018.

KELASO aims to:

  • Facilitate accessibility and pursue opportunities for ALL children to attend school.

  • Improve educational infrastructure to ensure schools are safe, functionable and sustainable.

  • Advocate for the rights and protection of children.

  • Empower communities to work together and identify projects to improve the living conditions for all.

  • Create economic stability by developing the entrepreneurial skills of women and youth.
