We EDUCATE & PROTECT Children

School Sponsorship
Education is a process of empowerment! When children are educated, they receive the knowledge and skills to create a better tomorrow and help overcome the challenges that come with extreme poverty. We believe ALL children should have access to quality education and the tools needed to learn, empower themselves and contribute to their communities.
We work with individuals and organizations throughout Tanzania and beyond to facilitate educational sponsorship for children.
How we are different?
We take a very personal approach to matching educational sponsors with the children in need.
-
We conduct one-on-one interviews with the child and their family to ensure there is a commitment to support the child throughout the process and ensure they are the child is supported with encouragement to attend, commit and apply themselves.
-
We conduct personal interviews with potential sponsors to determine their needs and expectations around the development of the child and the extent of their involvement. Some sponsors prefer to make their regular donations for school fees – while others like to have a direct involvement with the progress of the child – and in some cases have online meetings. We facilitate both situations.
-
A written report is provided to each sponsor that tells you about the child, their family and what they like to do.
-
We facilitate dialogue between a child and their sponsor and translate messages between English and Swahili, as needed.
-
We work directly with the schools to receive regular updates on the progress of the child – both academically and socially. Education goes beyond the power of the textbook!
Advocacy for the Protection of Children's Rights
We work with schools and community organizations to advocate for the protection of rights of children to ensure each and every child is supported to achieve their full potential. .
We also work directly with children to ensure they are informed of their rights as defined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child.

Sponsored Fall 2022

who they are very close to
Zuhura (7 years old) and her brother Ramadhani (6 years old) live in an area called Kondoa in the Dodoma region of Tanzania. They live with their parents and older brother. Their grandmother and aunts/uncles live nearby. They are both extremely loveable, happy, smart, inquisitive, friendly, affectionate – and have infectious laughs.
Thanks to caring sponsors, Zuhura started school (Standard 1) in October and her brother Ramadhani will be joining her at the same school in January. Their sponsors are committed to supporting Zuhura and Ramadhani right through to university and look forward to when they learn how to speak English so they can communicate virtually.
When asked what she wants to be when she grows up, Zuhura responded she wants to be a pilot!
